Kids Flock for Birdâs Eye Views
Children will flit from activity to activity, getting higher and higher, until they reach the ânestâ at the top of the tower to enjoy a birdâs eye views across this revitalised nature-inspired play space at the popular Luke Polkinghorne Reserve.
Team work makes the dream work
In a project funded jointly by Yarra Ranges Council and the Victorian Governmentâs Local Parks Revitalisation Grants, our team worked with Urban Edge Landscape Architects to realise Councilâs vision of a kidsâ activity trail leading to a towering birdâs nest in the popular reserve. Raw timber and rope equipment blend with the local surroundings, further enhanced by natural and informal play elements such as large stones and strategic landscaping.
Solution
Cross the wooden bridge over the dry creek bed to be welcomed by Echidna to a popular, revitalised park where music and nature work in harmony to encourage active, imaginative and inclusive fun.
Children can clamber up the commando net, scramble up the rock wall or climb the rope ladder to reach the top of the timber Octagonal Tower 8308  with its customised roof resembling the haphazardly placed twigs of a birdâs nest.Take the tube slide to the bottom or whiz down the firemanâs pole, to swing along the
Wobbly Wood Monkey Bars Fitness Station and then trip along Tightrope (as include in Activity Trails 2124) to reach the Single Slide Module SC372-1500mm.
Test your balance on the Stepping Logs Fitness Station before taking a turn on the Wobbly Wood Junior Rocker or swinging into some fun on the Flying Saucer - Double Timba Frame . Up to five kids can sit, lie or stand on the basket, while the toddler seat and standard seat cater for those youngsters who prefer to fly solo.
