Walk, cycle, explore â and now play!
Tourists have another reason to visit the historical centre of Little River, already a popular destination for walkers, cyclists and explorers. Designed by Christchurch City Council with community feedback, the revitalised playground creatively combined natural and manufactured play elements to become an instant hit with visitors and locals alike.
Collaboration
Christchurch City Council consulted widely with the local community on the new playgroundâs design, before tasking Citycare Properties to remove the old playground, prepare the site and install Playground Centre equipment. Chosen for maximum fun and inclusion, each piece is a vibrant mix of colourful and natural timber to complement the bushland setting. Â A testament to true collaboration, the special play space was completed and able to be enjoyed ahead of schedule.

The train Ultra-Tuff Springy Rocker is a nod to Little Riverâs railway heritage, while the Clockwork and 3-in-row Interactive Play Panels are a great inclusion for all ages, stages and abilities. The eye-catching Rainbow Sambas Musical Instrument are vibrant, easy and fun to play.
An edging of stepping logs was one of several natural play elements incorporated into the design, to reflect the milling heritage of the area and complement the surrounds.
